Surrender

As Christianity rises like a trend,
with shouts of joy and promises of prosperity,
with flashing lights, favour, and the language of goodness
there’s another side that doesn’t always make the grid.
A quieter side.
A darker side.
A scared, lonely place.
The hidden room.
The nights of warring and mourning.
The silent tears no one applauds.
The lament whispered into pillows.
It’s where God asks for all of you -
no shining parts,
not the polished testimony -
but the undone, trembling, breaking parts.
The place where he draws you away,
alone,
into the secret place
where there are no crowds, no lights, no noise.
Surrender is not glamorous.
It strips.
It stretches.
It empties.
It asks for trust when you feel uncertain.
Faith when you feel weak.
Hope when everything feels still.
He moulds you.
He strips you.
He carves you.
He breaks you.
And in the breaking, it feels unbearable.
In the carving, it feels like loss.
In the stripping, it feels like death.
But then -
He delights in you.
Not in who you were pretending to be,
but in who you are becoming.
Suddenly, in a quiet, holy moment,
you realise it was all worth it.
Because right there, in the ache,
in the quiet unravelling,
He was not destroying you,
He was forming you.
“The Jar he was making did not turn out as he has hoped,
So he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over…
O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay?
As the clay is in the potter’s hand,
so are you in my hand”
Jeremiah 18:6 NLT

Mind - Ask yourself, which parts in your life could use a mental upgrade?
Body - Stretch and feel your feelings but understand this is only temporary
Soul - First comes the crushing then comes the remodel
